Wulfrun Shopping Centre

The Wulfrun Shopping Centre, based in Wolverhampton’s city centre, boasts 64 retail outlets comprising of shops, cafés and bakeries, including well-known high street names such as Primark
and Argos.

London Cambridge Properties (LCP) manages the Wulfrun Shopping Centre and is one of the UK’s largest private owners of industrial, retail and office property to let, managing a portfolio in excess of 14 million square feet across the UK.

The Challenge

Prior to the inclusion of Axis Security’s services into the Group contract, Axis Cleaning and Support Services already met the cleaning and maintenance needs of the centre. The success of this contract, and the excellent relationship that has been developed, confirmed the high standards that the Axis Group provides.

The Wulfrun Shopping Centre attracts in excess of 200,000 visitors a week and the cleaning, maintenance and a solid security provision are very important to ensure the visitors feel safe and comfortable, retailers are provided with a profitable and secure environment and LCP’s investment is protected.

The Solution

In addition to the cleaning and maintenance provision, Axis Security provides the shopping centre with 228 weekly manned guarding hours and officers are responsible for the security, health, safety and wellbeing of all tenants and members of the public using the centre. All security officers are first aid qualified, as well as included in Axis’ bespoke, site-specific training, with each officer trained to evacuate the centre’s lifts should there be a relevant emergency.

Axis Security won the contract over tough competition from two other providers. “All three providers offered excellent proposals,” says Colin Quinton, Centre Manager at the Wulfrun Shopping Centre. “The decision was swayed towards Axis because of the customer-focused relationship that we already have with the cleaning division and by using Axis for both contracts they were able to offer excellent value for money.

“It’s a tough economic market for retailers,” continues Colin, “and it helps them to know that their businesses will be protected by well-trained and dedicated officers and that these high quality services will still keep their service charges at the lowest possible rates.”
